Life has a wonderful way of surprising us with unexpected joys, whether it’s a new green addition to your living space or a delightful recipe that brightens your day. Recently, I welcomed a new member to my ever-growing plant family – a beautiful spider plant. It instantly reminded me of the one my grandparents lovingly nurtured in their sunny sunroom, its vibrant green and white foliage cascading gracefully. After crowdsourcing plant recommendations from my wonderful Instagram community, spider plants were a popular suggestion. When I encountered a whole collection of them at Whole Foods, it felt like a clear sign. I carefully selected my favorite, envisioning it thriving in my home.
Now, it proudly sits in my living room, settling in alongside my majestic split-leaf philodendron, basking in the soft daylight streaming through the deck window. I genuinely believe it looks happy, adding a touch of serene green to my daily routine. And speaking of things that bring immense joy lately, I’m thrilled to share a new recipe that has quickly become a household favorite: this luscious Blueberry Cashew Butter. It’s a remarkable spread that comes together in less than 10 minutes, using only three simple ingredients. The result is a mildly sweet, intensely berry-flavored, and utterly addicting treat that you’ll want to slather on everything!
Crafting Your Own Creamy Cashew Butter at Home
For me, cashew butter holds a special place at the top of the nut butter hierarchy. There’s something inherently luxurious and comforting about cashews, when blended to an ultra-creamy consistency, that makes me absolutely swoon. Its rich, velvety texture often reminds me of edible cookie dough, but in a much healthier, wholesome form. The natural sweetness and mild flavor of cashews make them an ideal canvas for incorporating other delicious ingredients.
So, how could I possibly enhance this already perfect spread? The answer, naturally, came in the form of my other great obsession: blueberries! I was inspired by a delightful strawberry cashew butter recipe I stumbled upon online and immediately knew I had to create my own berry-infused version, specifically with my beloved “bluebs.” This recipe is a vibrant, fruity spin-off of my popular Raw Walnut Cashew Butter, adding a bright burst of berry flavor and a beautiful purple hue. Making your own nut butter at home gives you complete control over the ingredients, allowing you to avoid any unwanted oils, sugars, or preservatives often found in store-bought varieties. Plus, there’s an undeniable satisfaction in creating such a delicious, healthy staple from scratch.
Essential Ingredients for Blueberry Cashew Butter
One of the most appealing aspects of this Blueberry Cashew Butter recipe is its incredible simplicity, requiring just three core ingredients. You’ll be amazed at how such minimal components can transform into something so flavorful and satisfying:
- Raw Cashews: These are the star of our show, providing that signature creamy base and mild, buttery flavor that makes cashew butter so irresistible. Ensure they are raw, not roasted, for the best texture and natural taste.
- Raw Walnuts: The secret weapon! Adding a small amount of walnuts to the mix is a game-changer. Walnuts are naturally higher in oil content compared to cashews, which significantly aids in the blending process, helping the nuts break down faster and achieve a super smooth consistency more easily.
- Freeze-Dried Blueberries: These tiny powerhouses provide all the vibrant blueberry flavor and beautiful color without introducing any excess moisture that could alter the butter’s texture. They also contribute a natural sweetness, eliminating the need for any added sugars.
That’s truly all you need! No added oils, no refined sugars, just pure, wholesome goodness.
Step-by-Step Guide to Making Homemade Blueberry Cashew Butter
Creating your own creamy nut butter at home is surprisingly simple and incredibly rewarding. Here’s how to whip up this berry-licious cashew butter:
- Initial Nut Blend: Begin by combining the raw cashews and raw walnuts in a high-speed blender or a powerful food processor. I personally use my Vitamix, which makes quick work of this task. The inclusion of walnuts is strategic; their natural oils are released relatively quickly, significantly easing the blending process and helping to achieve that desirable creamy texture faster than with cashews alone.
- The Transformation Process: Start blending the nuts. You’ll observe a fascinating transformation as they progress from whole nuts to a coarse meal, then to a finer flour, and finally, into a thick, rough paste. As you continue to blend, the oils will fully release, and the paste will smooth out into a rich, creamy butter. This entire process typically takes about 3 to 4 minutes in a high-speed blender. My partner, M, watched me make nut butter for the first time during this recipe and was genuinely surprised at how fast it came together!
- Scrape and Rest: During blending, you’ll need to stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender jar with a spatula, ensuring all the nuts are incorporated. If your blender comes with a tamper (like the Vitamix), use it to push the nuts down towards the blade without stopping the machine. It’s also crucial to give your blender motor short breaks every 30-60 seconds to prevent it from overheating, especially during the initial stages when the mixture is thicker. Patience here will result in a perfectly smooth butter and a happy blender.
Infusing with the Sweetness of Blueberries
Once your cashew and walnut base is wonderfully smooth and creamy, it’s time to introduce the star flavor: blueberries! Add the freeze-dried blueberries to the blender with the nut butter. Continue to process the mixture until the blueberries are thoroughly combined and evenly distributed throughout the nut butter.
This step usually takes just another minute or so. As the blueberries integrate, you’ll notice the nut butter gradually transforming into a beautiful, appealing purple hue. The freeze-dried berries not only impart a concentrated, delicious berry flavor but also contribute a beautifully mild, natural sweetness, meaning there’s absolutely no need for any added sugars. This keeps your homemade spread incredibly wholesome and refined-sugar-free.
After blending, take a moment to taste the mixture. Evaluate both its flavor and its consistency. Do you prefer an ultra-smooth butter, or do you enjoy a bit more texture? If you desire an even smoother nut butter, simply process it for an additional minute. For those who appreciate a slightly thicker, more rustic texture, you can leave it as is. The beauty of making your own nut butter is that you can customize it exactly to your preference!
The Perfect Pairing: Bare Snacks Banana Chips
Once your delectable Blueberry Cashew Butter is ready, there’s no better way to enjoy it immediately than with Bare Snacks Simply Banana Chips! These particular banana chips are truly exceptional, and that’s high praise coming from me, as I’m not typically the biggest fan of raw bananas. While I adore bananas in baked goods like banana bread, the texture of a fresh banana usually isn’t my preference. However, these chips completely rock my world.
What makes Bare Snacks Banana Chips so outstanding? They are crafted with just one ingredient: bananas. Seriously, that’s it! You won’t find any preservatives, artificial flavors, or added oils. They are simply baked to achieve a wonderfully crispy, crunchy perfection that is both satisfying and incredibly natural. The delightful combination of sweet blueberries, wholesome cashews, and the naturally sweet, crunchy banana chips creates a harmonious flavor and texture profile that is simply irresistible. It’s a match made in snack heaven! These banana chips serve as the absolute perfect vehicle for scooping up generous dollops of your freshly made Blueberry Cashew Butter, making for an easy, healthy, and delicious snack that you’ll crave again and again.

Tips for Serving and Storing Your Homemade Blueberry Cashew Butter
Embrace the joy of this Blueberry Cashew Butter as a delightful and creative twist on traditional homemade cashew butter. It’s a fantastic recipe to incorporate into your weekly meal prep routine. I often dedicate a little time on Sunday to prepare a batch, ensuring I have a wholesome and delicious spread ready to enjoy throughout the entire week. This makes healthy snacking and quick meal assembly incredibly convenient.
If you’re feeling adventurous and want to explore different flavor profiles, consider experimenting with other freeze-dried berries. Freeze-dried raspberries or strawberries would work beautifully, offering their own unique tang and sweetness. The beauty of using freeze-dried berries is that they provide an intense, concentrated fruit flavor and a natural sweetness, completely eliminating the need for any added sugars or artificial ingredients. This ensures your homemade nut butter remains a pure and healthy choice.
One of the best advantages of making your own nut butter is its excellent shelf life when stored correctly. This homemade Blueberry Cashew Butter will keep perfectly in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. However, I must confess, between M and myself, a batch rarely lasts longer than a week in our fridge! It’s simply too delicious to resist. So, go ahead, make a batch (or two!) and enjoy the fresh, vibrant flavors of this easy and healthy spread. Enjoy every delicious bite!

Description
This 3-ingredient homemade cashew butter is bursting with the delicious flavor of freeze-dried blueberries and made with raw cashews and walnuts. It’s a healthy, easy, and naturally sweet vegan spread. Serve it with Bare Snacks Banana Chips for the ultimate snack experience!
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups raw cashews
- ½ cup raw walnuts
- ¾ cups freeze-dried blueberries (1 1.2 oz bag)
- Bare Snacks Simply Banana Chips, for serving
Instructions
- Add the raw cashews and walnuts to a high-speed blender or food processor (I used a Vitamix!) and process until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed with a spatula to recombine and use a tamper (if you have one) to move the nuts around the blade. The nuts should transform from a crumble to a flour, then to a rough spread, and finally to a smooth butter in approximately 3 to 4 minutes. Stop the blender every 30-60 seconds to allow the motor to rest and prevent overheating.
- Once the cashews and walnuts are smooth and creamy, add in the freeze-dried blueberries and process until they are well-combined with the nut butter. This will take about another minute or so, until the nut butter turns a beautiful purple color.
- Taste the mixture for texture and consistency. Process for an additional minute for an even smoother nut butter, or leave as is for a bit more texture, depending on your preference.
- Serve it immediately with Bare Snacks Simply Banana Chips for the perfect pairing!
- Transfer the homemade nut butter to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
